Anna first heard about pelvic organ prolapse when her gynecologist diagnosed her with the condition at the age of 62. She had been having troubles with pressure in her lower abdomen for a while and in the last few months felt a new bulging sensation inside her vagina. When she confided about her problem with her friends and family, she found out that two of her friends suffered from similar symptoms, but felt uncomfortable sharing it with anyone. Anna made an appointment with a specialist, who recommended a standard surgical procedure to repair the prolapse. She was terrified of surgery so she insisted to try all the non-surgical options first. She did a lot of research and talked to different people.
Besides muscle exercises and different pessaries, she found out about a new laser treatment for pelvic organ prolapse, named ProlapLase®. She called a private gynecology clinic performing ProlapLase® nearby and scheduled an appointment. After the initial examination, she was told she was the perfect patient for the procedure, as her moderate prolapse stage promised the best results from clinical studies. She was proposed a treatment plan of 4-6 laser sessions with 3-4 weeks between procedures. At the first session, her doctor applied local anesthetic cream for 20 minutes, then wiped it off and started with the treatment. The treatment was very gentle; her intimate areas were in physical contact only with the smooth glass speculum. After about half an hour, she was done and sent home. She felt excited and could barely wait, until in a few weeks’ time, improvement started to show. She had four more treatments, each a month apart.
Six months after the first ProlapLase® procedure, she felt almost the same as before her troubles. She slowly returned to her old active lifestyle. She was recommended follow-up controls and maintenance treatments every 12 months. Anna was happy and grateful for each active and surgery-free year she was enabled by ProlapLase®.
