This year’s VELA meeting featured more than 18 presentations from highly respected experts in the field of laser gynecology and urogynecology, coming from more than 12 different countries. Many fascinating new studies with outstanding results were presented at the two-day VELA symposium, along with a wealth of new ideas on the use of Fotona’s SMOOTH™ mode technology for applications such as genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), stress urinary incontinence (SUI), vaginal relaxation syndrome (VRS) and much more, including a promising new treatment for relieving the symptoms of Lichen Sclerosus.
The VELA meeting in Rome was organized by Prof. Dr. Marco Gambacciani of the University of Pisa, Italy and Prof. Dr. Mauro Cervigni (Italy) in partnership with Santec, SRL. Some of the notable speakers at the symposium included Prof. Dr. Tommaso Simoncini, President of the European Menopause Society (Italy), Dr. Barry O’Reilly, Cork University Maternity Hospital (Ireland), Dr. Jorge Gaviria, Teknon Medical Center (Spain), Dr. Sabina Sencar, Juna Clinic (Slovenia), Dr. Ivan Fistonic, Ordinacija Fistonić (Croatia), and Dr. Santiago Palacios, Instituto Palacios (Spain).
The Vaginal Erbium Laser Academy is an independent scientific organization devoted to women’s health and quality of life, developing and implementing innovative Erbium Smooth™ medical laser applications for functional vaginal restoration throughout life. VELA also promotes Erbium Smooth™ laser research in educational institutions and at local and international meetings, congresses, and encourages the exchange of research and professional experience between members.
